My Everyday Make-Up Bag Favourites

My beauty faves for my everyday make-up bag

You guys are always so kind to me about my skin, face and makeup! I’m planning to do a little mama make up tutorial as it’s been requested a few times so I will do that on Instagram stories but until then I wanted to share some of my beauty favourites with you.

I feel a bit silly here as I’m definitely no expert but I suppose in a way that’s maybe why you’re here? To find a simple routine that isn’t time-consuming and affordable items for anyone’s make up bag.

With little ones around my legs while trying to do my make up in the morning it has to be quick and easy.

NUXE Masque Creme Fraiche, Feel Unique, £12

NUXE Masque Creme Fraiche, Feel Unique, £12

I bought this facial cleanser a few months back and I'm really enjoying it! I use it every morning in the shower as its the easiest place to do it (anybody else?) From its name I assumed it would have a clay-like, thick texture but its fairly runny and leaves my skin really smooth.

I use the NUXE Masque every now and then - its more of a mask (as the name suggests!) its great for pores.

I’ve recently made the switch from make up wipes to cleanser. I don’t use anything fancy - just a Garnier one. It does the job and leaves my skin feeling fresh but more importantly removes all of my mascara (a common problem if you use make up wipes!) I’ve heard fab things about the body shops tea tree toner water so plan to get some of it soon to try out!

Another recent purchase has been Hyalumonic Acid by The Ordinary, Deciem. When I bought it I had no idea what it would be like or really at what stage to use it. I use it twice a day. Once in the morning before primer and once at night time after I cleanse. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my skin, it’s fresh, subtle and so soft!

In the morning I go on to use primer from The Ordinary and then apply make up. In the evening I will sometimes use my LoReal Nightcream but almost always forget!

Make up faves!

Collection lasting perfection, £3.99 from Boots

Concealer - this was an #AskInstagram from a few weeks back. There were many suggestions such as Clinique ‘All about the eyes’ (roughly £25), Glossier stretch concealer (roughly £15) Laura Mercier high coverage concealer (roughly £6) Charlotte Tilbury mini miracle eye (£29) but what came up trumps was Collection 2000 concealer at just £4.

I started with the Collection 2000 one mainly because I like to get the best bang on a budget!

It’s amazing. I got the extra light so that I could use it as an easy highlighter instead of using my go-to Iconic London contour palette, which is my absolute favourite but I only tend to use it if we're going out!

Foundation

I go between three foundations at the moment, depending on what we’re doing that day or the weather! If it’s a bit wet I go for a heavy full coverage foundation by The Ordinary. I’ve got shade 2.0N Light Medium I feel like it’s got a bit of a yellow undertone so balance it out with the lighter concealer and NYX perfecting powder. If it’s a sunny or bright day I go for a lighter coverage from The Ordinary or use Max Factor Skin Luminizer. I’m onto my third bottle of this, which never happens. I tend to get to the end of a foundation and switch because I haven’t liked it very much. I use Rose Beige but if I get another bottle I’ll choose the shade lighter. It’s amazing for a bright complexion without the ‘caked’ look.

FREEDOM Brow Pomade, Superdrug £5

FREEDOM Brow Pomade, Superdrug £5

I’ve tried many brow products and after chatting to my gal Robyn Stewart MUA about pomades she got me excited about Freedom (a Superdrug range) I’ve got ‘Blonde’ it works brilliantly well and is very easy to use with a simple angled brow brush!

I’m so excited about a future brow product by Peaches & Pearl's Boutique, Dundee. The mega boss, Chantelle is releasing her own Vegan and Cruelty-Free brow pomades and the results look incredible. I can’t wait to try them out. She is the queen of brows. Highly pigmented pomade which is blendable, waterproof with no flaking or smudging. Peaches and Pearls Salon is in Dundee, Scotland. You can keep up with Chantelle on Instagram here to find out more about this product and its release date.

Mascara.

I’m currently using Clarins Mascara Supra Volume in Ultimate Black. It has the perfect eyelash brush (I hate those really jaggy ones!)

On days that I want a lighter look or to bring out the blue in my eyes I use a simple collection one in Brown. This is a special one as Eilidh saved up some money and went into Boots herself to choose me some make up for my birthday. Turns out she has a good eye for products as it’s actually really good especially for its cheap price tag!

Blush and Highlight

To keep things minimal in my everyday make up bag I’ve just been using this freedom pro palette. It has a good few blush choices, as well as some darker browny nudes (which I like using if I’m doing a nude lip)

I adore a nude lip. My favourite has been a LoReal Colour Riche one that I use so often there’s hardly left! I’ll also swipe a little onto my cheeks and blend it in to give a little colour co-ord. I don’t know if it’s just me that does this?! Seems a bit weird but I like it, so give it a go. Just maybe not with a red!

I’ve also tried these Freedom ones. The colours are nice but it’s not very moisturising and wears off quickly. Get what you pay for here I think!!

Nails

Since my birthday in February, I’ve really tried to keep my nails looking good. I was a nail biter before. *hides face in shame* but I now get regular Shellac and can’t believe the difference in my nails! They feel so strong, healthy and they look good.

'Coco does nails' is the girl to go to for nails! Her work is effortlessly cool and modern and she knows her stuff. Based in West Lothian, Scotland. You can find Nicole here

I maintain these mean nails with some Sally Henson Cuticle oil which has become a bit of an addiction. I use it multiple times a day!

Where do I get my advice?

#AskInstagram the best type of advice in my opinion. Finding out what products work from people you know or trust, unbiased reviews with no sales pitch. I know some get a bit annoyed with the #ad, #spon or #affiliatelink but I genuinely believe if you are following the right people they give their honest opinion on a product/ service just like someone who went out and paid money for the product! ** none of the above are included in this post **
