NEW things that I found and LOVE at IKEA

We had a little trip to IKEA (JUNE 2018)  I found some really cool, new pieces that I think you will all love too! I'll put together another blog post with some of the pieces we bought (it wasn't that exciting but I did get some new plates).

We all know I’m a huge fan of IKEA. I’ve loved it since I was a child - not that we would visit much but even then it seemed to us a giant indoor playground. We loved the kid's bit at the end!

We have lots of different trips. Some that were only going for some candles, plants and well, meatballs but others where we are going through with purpose, like buying furniture!

I thought I’d put together a little blog post of all the bits I loved when we visited. We’re going to be redecorating the living room and Eilidh’s room in the near future so it’s mostly pieces for these rooms that I’m focusing on. Although when we’re at IKEA I’m not very focused and just love and want to buy EVERYTHING!

IKEA - VINDUM high pile rug.

IKEA - VINDUM high pile rug.

This was luxuriously thick. I loved the mix of white and black and hope it'll be good for disguising any stains that may *will* appear! It reminds me of the famous LaRedoute rug.

STOCKHOLM 2017 - SANDBACKA DARK BLUE...

STOCKHOLM 2017 - SANDBACKA DARK BLUE...

We've been searching for a new sofa forever, we had actually ordered one on a whim at DFS in April but I changed my mind and cancelled it. This is the exact style and colour I'm looking for, it's very deep and would be spacious enough for us all to sit comfortably. I adore the velvet-like cover which gives it a very expensive look. I would love to see a mustard yellow pouffe here too so must have a search for one of those!!

STOCKHOLM MIRROR 70CM

STOCKHOLM MIRROR 70CM

Round mirrors are everywhere right now, the bigger the better, they're styling bedrooms, entryways and if you're lucky enough to have space, bathrooms! I go between loving this kinda style and vintage mirrors. This one will be perfect for the atmosphere I'm trying to give our living room. It's an awkward space as its also our dining room so it's hard to combine the two, creating a cosy space without shrinking the size or feel.

SINNERLIG bamboo lampshade

SINNERLIG bamboo lampshade

This lampshade was actually one of the things we went through to get but it was MUCH bigger than I expected so we didn't buy it. We have average sized ceilings and because our light is in the middle one the room I worried that it would be too much in the way or G would constantly walk into it

SNIDAD Rattan Basket

I loved this rattan basket, a new item. Perfect for storing cushions, blankets, a nice plant or even toys!

New Rattan lampshades with IKEA Smart Lighting

This lighting system was pretty cool, you use the dial to adjust the brightness of the light creating a mood in the room. So if you were doing something practical like painting with the kids or cleaning, oh the wild life I lead!!

You can have it bright or dim it down for that romantic date night in. It also changed the tone from a white light to a soft yellow.

Bringing the inside, out!

I've been desperately trying to give our garden some style, it's your basic 'kids live here' garden AKA filled with plastic. Not that I mind, in fact, we actively encourage it by buying more! However its really nice to be able to create some adult spaces - I loved the styling in these images.

I'm planning on a upcycle of a vintage floor lamp I found in a good old charity shop to have outside, blog post will follow!

KNOPPEN DESK

KNOPPEN DESK

Moving on to some of the things we would like for Eilidh's room.

Now that she's practically a grown-up little lady we've been looking for a desk that she can have in her room, y'know to do homework on, reading, drawing and writing stories (a favourite pass time for her).

This KNOPPEN desk is the perfect size, fairly stylish and modern that will grow with her for years to come. It could possibly be used as a little bedside table or to house the TV she'll probably want in her bedroom in 10 years time (Yes, I'm in denial that it'll take that long!)

FLISAT dollhouse

FLISAT dollhouse

I'm not entirely sure on this one, I find decorating for Eilidh the most challenging. Trying to find items that aren't teenage but aren't little girl either is a bit of a task!

But I figure if we got this and felt it wasn't a good fit we could put it in Matilda's or Oscar's room.

SKUGGIS hook

SKUGGIS hook

Excuse the terrible picture but these are a STEAL! There's so much you could do with these. Line them up in a row to create a coat rack or use them to hang an Edison bulb - MY PLAN!

HONEYCOMB TILES. I'm a little obsessed with tiles just now although my ultimate favourites are RIAD TILES. If we were to be changing the black metro tiles in the kitchen (I only said IF G) these would be what I would like, I think, I'm pretty sure. Yip.

DAMASK blue bedding. Blue hues are giving me so much life just now, for what is a cool colour it's amazing how cosy space can feel with it. It also brings a lovely Summer freshness without adding a harsh yellow!

FAUX flowers. IKEA has some of the best faux flowers around, they're insanely inexpensive as well. We have a few bunches of the eucalyptus and some of their succulents

BANANA LEAF WALLPAPER. I don't believe this is IKEA but how amazing is this wallpaper?! I'm thinking downstairs toilet!

So that's a round up of all of my favourite picks from this trip!

Ps. If you didn't leave IKEA with candles, a plant or mini cactus and a tummy full of meatballs... DID YOU EVEN GO?
